For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved to observe nature and create things.
I earned a Bachelor of Science in wildlife biology and worked as a field biologist for several years. Last summer (2011), I participated in a study of pikas in lava flows. It was very exciting to find previously unknown populations of pikas on three lava flows. It was also a real treat to observe pikas in the wild — picking penstemons in the spring, calling “eep!” when a predator (or researcher) comes near and making huge hay piles to dry for winter.
I’ve also taken far too many drawing, painting and ceramic art classes and workshops to count. Over time, (and like many naturalists), I finally accepted that I am also an artist.
I am one of the founding members of the Clay Guild of the Cascades, and I participate in various shows throughout the year. I’ll post upcoming shows on the first page of this blog.
